Honey Oats

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups water or milk (or a combination of both)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g., fresh fruits, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, yogurt)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Oats:

    • In a medium saucepan, bring the water or milk to a boil.
    • Add the rolled oats and salt. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
  2. Add Honey and Flavorings:

    • Stir in the honey, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Adjust the sweetness to taste by adding more honey if desired.
    • Continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes until the oats reach your desired consistency.
  3. Serve:

    • Remove from heat and let the oats sit for a minute to thicken slightly.
    • Serve the honey oats in bowls, topped with your favorite toppings. Some great options include fresh berries, sliced bananas, chopped nuts, chia seeds, a dollop of yogurt, or a sprinkle of granola.

Tips:

  • Creamier oats: For creamier oats, you can use milk instead of water or a combination of both.
  • Overnight oats: If you prefer cold oats, you can prepare honey overnight oats by mixing the oats, milk, honey, and any additional flavorings in a jar. Let it sit in the refrigerator overnight and enjoy it cold the next morning.
