Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Waffle Batter:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, honey, and vanilla extract.
  2. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
    • Stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the batter should be slightly lumpy.
  3. Preheat the Waffle Iron:

    • Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
    • Lightly grease the waffle iron with butter or cooking spray.
  4. Cook the Waffles:

    • Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron, using about ½ cup of batter or the amount recommended by the manufacturer.
    • Close the waffle iron and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, typically 4-5 minutes.
  5. Serve:

    • Serve the waffles hot, drizzled with additional honey and your favorite toppings such as butter, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or nuts.

Tips:

  • Keep them warm: If making a large batch, keep the cooked waffles warm in an oven set to 200°F (93°C) until ready to serve.
  • Crispier waffles: For extra crispy waffles, increase the cook time slightly or let the waffles sit on a wire rack for a few minutes after cooking to help them stay crisp.
